The Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Commuter and Extended Protection Service Agreement.
We want to help you understand the Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Extended Service Agreement. It is one of the most comprehensive transmission protection plans in the country. Please take the time to read this page and talk to your Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Manager if you have any questions.
Is the Extended Service Agreement complicated and confusing?
No. It's written in simple terms. The Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Extended Service Agreement is available to protect you, our client, against costly transmission repairs for the time period you select. It is straightforward and clearly written. It has been developed because we want you to be satisfied and worry free about future transmission troubles. It provides for all the labor and materials required to keep your transmission performing properly for what ever time period you select, provided you have it serviced at Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service once a year or every 20,000 miles at our current "Service Special" price.
What is covered by my Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Extended Service Agreement?
Your Kennedy rebuilt transmission and torque converter are guaranteed against defects in workmanship and materials for the time period you select. We will fix any problem covered under our Agreement free of charge, cheerfully and in a timely fashion. Our intention is to provide you with peace of mind as you travel in your busy day to day schedule.
What is not covered by my Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Extended Service Agreement?
The Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service Extended Service Agreement offers comprehensive protection against transmission problems caused by defective parts or workmanship. It does not cover failures or problems caused by circumstances beyond our control such as: Failure caused by vehicles involved in racing, accidents or operation under abnormal driving conditions (such as some excessive towing), electrical components, or use for which the assembly was not designed. (Please read Section 7 of the Extended Service Agreement for more detail).
THE AGREEMENT IS REGISTERED TO YOU ONLY AND WILL NOT BE IN EFFECT IF YOU SELL OR TRANSFER TITLE TO YOUR VEHICLE UNLESS THE PROPER TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP PROCEDURES ARE FOLLOWED (SEE SECTION 11 OF THE EXTENDED SERVICE AGREEMENT FOR MORE SPECIFIC DETAIL).
What must I do to keep the Agreement valid?
In order to ensure that your Kennedy transmission is working properly, you must stop back within 14 days to have the transmission double checked free of charge. Failure to stop in for the recheck and have the Agreement validated will void the extended coverage. You should also check the transmission fluid on a monthly basis and watch closely for any leaks. Please notify us if any problems occur. You must return to the original store for all repairs performed under this Agreement. This is a local service Agreement.
Your Agreement also requires that your transmission be serviced once a year. You have a 60-day grace period (30 days prior to 30 days after) around the anniversary of your service date or 20,000 miles to bring your vehicle back to your Kennedy Transmission, Brake & Auto Service shop for an annual service at the then current "Service Special" price. The service includes changing the fluid and filter, replacing the pan gasket and making any necessary adjustments.
ANNUAL SERVICE MUST BE PERFORMED AND PROOF OF SERVICE MUST BE MAINTAINED (SEE BACK OF THE EXTENDED SERVICE AGREEMENT); FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RENDER THE SERVICE AGREEMENT NULL AND VOID.
What can I do to ensure trouble free driving for this vehicle and any other vehicle I may own?
First of all, if you have any questions about the repairs or the Agreement, please ask us. We are small business owners that repair and rebuild transmissions. We know that they can be difficult to understand, but we are very knowledgeable when it comes to transmissions and want you to feel comfortable to ask us any question(s) you may have.
All automatic tranmissions are made up of hundreds of parts, closely machined to function so smoothly that you can leave the "thinking" to the transmission.
Its purpose is to transfer power from the engine to the drive line. It does this with no more effort than the move of a lever. Properly maintained, your transmission can give you many miles and years of trouble free driving. Failure to maintain the transmission can cause inconvenient and costly problems, so we suggest:
*Keep your engine happy-
A well tuned engine is extremely important to the proper operation of your transmission. No automatic transmission will perform properly with a rough-running engine. Often the engine idle speed increases to compensate for a poor running engine. This can be directly responsible for internal transmission damage as well as engine damage. Thousands of transmission complaints are solved with a simple engine tune up.
*Start out on the right foot-
When starting your vehicle each morning, or after it has been parked for several hours (especially in cold weather), allow the engine idle speed to come down before shifting your car into any gear. This warm-up should take two to three minutes, so stay in your car. Don't let it idle longer - excessive idling can cause internal transmission damage. If you feel a jolt or a jerk when you put the transmission in gear, your engine idle speed should be checked.
*Stop that leak-
It's usually not necessary to add transmission fluid. If you see any leaks on the garage floor or where you park your vehicle - FIND OUT WHY!! If you are adding transmission fluid - FIND OUT WHY!! Stop the leak before serious damage occurs.
*Beware of heat-
Excessive heat is the #1 enemy of your transmission. It is a major cause of automatic transmission failure, and it is a problem in summer and in winter. Rocking a stuck vehicle out of snow or ice causes excessive friction and overheating of transmission components. Summer heat combined with boat and trailer towing can CAUSE fluid "burning" and shorten transmission life. Heat causes oxidation of the fluid and varnishing of internal transmission parts. The transmission fluid is cooled by the radiator, so proper maintenance of your cooling system is also important to keep the transmission and the engine happy.
*Listen, listen-
No noise is good noise. If you hear any weird noises or feel vibrations or slippage, it may indicate that something is wrong with your transmission. At the first sign of trouble, or if you think there may be a problem, please come and see us. We'll check it out free of charge.
